So, in life – and in manufacturing – there’s this thing called the past. It’s a time of glorious victories and incredible innovations.

The future will be dictated by what you do today, which in turn will be dictated by what you got from the past.

Let us say you’re about to start a new power plant. It’s very unlikely that your organization is doing it for the first time, so you already have data on what has worked historically and what hasn’t.
So, here’s what you do.
You take that data – ALL of it – from the past, and you use it to simulate real-world conditions of a, say, the generator. You play around with the boiler temperature, steam line pressure and whatever else is relevant to your case.
Well, if you have a proper vehicle in place to do this analysis with, you will instantaneously see what settings are optimal for your plant. You’ll use less fuel and maximize the performance of the plant. You’ll get it to run more effectively right from the beginning, and as a result, save BIG money.
Right? We all know what that 1% can turn into over the years.
Over time you can develop systems, where your data can optimize itself. In other words, you don’t even have to be supervising the process, because the analytics can do the work for you.
